If your institution has an entry

You may have arrived from your own entry. This page tells you what the directory is, how every fact on your entry got there, and how to correct it.

What this is

The Kaleidoscope is a directory of what the chiropractic profession’s institutions publish about themselves: programs, licensing boards, organizations, technique traditions and student organizations. Each entry is built from published pages: the institution’s own, and, where a field says so, another body’s.

What it never does

What every entry gets

  • Where it quotes you, your published wording, with the page it came from
  • The date the entry was checked
  • unverified, where a field could not be sourced from your pages, or, for a fact that belongs to another body such as your accreditor, from that body’s pages
  • A line linking every published correction that names it

What no entry ever gets

  • A rank, a score, a rating or a featured place
  • A position anyone paid for. No institution can pay to be listed, described or placed
  • An unpublished figure, whoever supplies it
  • A student’s name

How the directory is paid for, and what money can and cannot do here, is on the funding page.

How your entry was sourced

Every fact about your institution comes from a published page, normally your own. Two lines are not facts about your institution and do not come from its pages: a line saying that the person who maintains this site has a relationship with it, and a line saying that your institution has told us a figure is out of date. For a licensing board, that means the board, or the state’s own statute or regulation. Where an entry carries something from another body’s pages, such as a college’s list of the student clubs on its campus, the field says where it was read. Quoted wording is reproduced exactly as published, spelling and all, and the entry names the page it was read from. The entry says when it was checked.

Where we could not find something on your pages, the entry says so. That isn’t a claim that you don’t publish it. Absence in what we checked is not absence at your institution.

The full rules, including what we never use as a source, are on how we source.

How to correct your entry

Write to one address:

ben@thechirotrack.com

Send three things: the entry, the field that is wrong, and the page on your own site that says otherwise, or, for a licensing field, the statute or regulation. If the page is new, say when it went up.

What happens next. Every correction gets a reply within ten business days, and every correction your own pages confirm is applied within the same time. When your published page contradicts the entry, the entry changes, and the corrections page records what we said, what is true, how we found out, and the date.

If a figure is out of date and you haven’t published the new one yet, tell us. The entry will say that you told us, on the date you did, that the figure is out of date. It keeps printing the figure your pages publish until you publish the new one. The day you do, the entry changes and the corrections page records both. No figure goes on an entry until it is published, whoever sends it, because a reader has to be able to check every figure against a published page.

Who can correct an entry. Your institution, through any contact it publishes, or an officer your own pages name in that role. An officer is described on the site by role, not by name, unless your own published pages already name that officer in a field of the entry, and a private message is never quoted. If someone else writes to us about your entry, we check what they say against your own pages, and nothing changes on their word alone.

Knowing when your entry changes

There is no notice service. Your entry shows the date it was last checked, and its line Corrections to this entry links every published correction that names it.
