Degree requirement
published You need to have graduated from a chiropractic college that is accredited by, or has status with, the Council on Chiropractic Education or its predecessor agency. The prior education you need depends on when you enrolled. If you enrolled at a chiropractic college after July 1, 2000, you need a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited for that degree by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or a credentials evaluation report from a board-approved organization that deems your education equivalent to a bachelor's degree. The board's page lists separate requirements for enrollment before July 2, 1990 and after July 1, 1990. Credits from your bachelor's degree may not count toward your chiropractic degree. If you graduated more than 10 years before you apply, the statute lets the board require the NBCE Special Purposes Examination for Chiropractic, or its equivalent. The board's page says regional accrediting agency; the statute, section 460.406(1)(d), says institutional accrediting agency. The board's page also writes as an Chiropractic Physician.Source: https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/chiropractic-physician/ · http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0460/0460.html · checked 2026-10-04
Student practice before licensure
published Section 460.402(6) of Chapter 460, Florida Statutes, provides that the provisions of the chapter shall not apply to a chiropractic student enrolled in a chiropractic college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education and participating in either a community-based internship or a chiropractic college clinical internship, each under the direct supervision that section 460.402(6) specifies for it. Section 460.403(4) defines both internships, and section 460.403(7) defines direct supervision. Chapter 460 also states: No person other than a licensed chiropractic physician may render chiropractic services, chiropractic adjustments, or chiropractic manipulations. Under section 460.406(5), a student in a school or college of chiropractic accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education or its successor, in the final year of the program, may file an application under section 460.406(1), take all examinations required for licensure, submit a set of fingerprints and pay all fees required for licensure; a chiropractic student who successfully completes the licensure examinations and who otherwise meets all requirements for licensure during the final year must have graduated before being certified for licensure.Source: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0460/0460.html · checked 2026-10-04

State-specific exam
published The Florida Laws and Rules Examination, administered through the NBCE and no longer by the Department of Health. Its passing score and what it covers are under Jurisprudence requirement. Chapter 460 uses the phrase state licensure examination. Rule 64B2-11.001 defines the licensure examination as the NBCE parts plus the NBCE Florida Laws and Rules examination. Chapter 460 also provides a separate certification examination to use acupuncture. You may choose not to take it, and passing it alone gives you no right to practice.Source: https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/chiropractic-physician/ · http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0460/0460.html · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/readFile.asp?sid=0&tid=29052778&type=1&file=64B2-11.001.doc · checked 2026-10-04

Continuing education
published 40 hours each licensure biennium. The board's renewal page refers to the 40 hours required in each licensure biennium. Rule 64B2-13.004 requires that, to renew, you complete at least 40 contact classroom hours during the past two years. Chapter 460 states: The board shall require licensees to periodically demonstrate their professional competence as a condition of renewal of a license by completing up to 40 contact classroom hours of continuing education. The renewal page lists required subject areas in a table: General Hours 27; Medical Errors 2; Laws and Rules 2; Risk Management 1; Record Keeping/Documentation and Coding 6; Ethics and Boundaries 2. The table prints no total row. Rule 64B2-13.004 requires at least 3 hours in risk management, 2 of which relate specifically to the laws and rules of the board and the Department of Health; 6 of the 40 hours in record keeping/documentation and coding; and 2 of the 40 hours in ethics and boundaries. Rule 64B2-13.0045 requires a board-approved 2-hour course on preventing medical errors as part of each biennial renewal, and a board-approved HIV/AIDS course of at least 1 hour by your first renewal. Online continuing education is allowed. If you hold acupuncture certification, 4 of your 40 hours are in acupuncture. In your first biennium, or within 24 months of initial licensure if that ends later, you attend one full day of a board meeting at which disciplinary hearings are conducted, and complete a minimum of 6 hours of record keeping/documentation and coding and 2 hours of ethics and boundaries. Once you have completed those and the HIV/AIDS and medical-errors courses, you are not required to complete any other continuing education during the biennium in which you are first licensed (Rule 64B2-13.007).Source: https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/chiropractic-physician-renewal/ · http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0460/0460.html · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/readFile.asp?sid=0&tid=29328064&type=1&file=64B2-13.004.doc · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/readFile.asp?sid=0&tid=28671374&type=1&file=64B2-13.0045.doc · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/readFile.asp?sid=0&tid=30554629&type=1&file=64B2-13.007.doc · checked 2026-10-04

Summary
published Florida licenses chiropractic physicians through the Board of Chiropractic Medicine under Chapter 460, Florida Statutes, and rule Division 64B2. You need a degree from a chiropractic college accredited by, or holding status with, the Council on Chiropractic Education or its predecessor agency; if you enrolled after July 1, 2000, you also need a bachelor's degree or a credentials evaluation report from a board-approved organization that deems your education equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Chapter 460 provides that its provisions shall not apply to a chiropractic student enrolled in a college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education and participating in a community-based internship or a chiropractic college clinical internship under the direct supervision the statute specifies for each. You must pass NBCE Parts I to IV and Physiotherapy, plus the Florida Laws and Rules Examination, which is administered through the NBCE. Chapter 460 sets out what practice includes and what it excludes. Acupuncture requires certification by the board, and, effective June 26, 2024, chiropractic physicians must be certified to perform dry needling. Continuing education is 40 hours each biennium in required subject areas; in your first biennium, or within 24 months of initial licensure if that ends later, you attend one full day of a board meeting at which disciplinary hearings are conducted and complete a set of required courses instead. If you hold an active, unencumbered license from another state, the District of Columbia or a U.S. territory in a profession with a similar scope of practice, you can apply by endorsement under the MOBILE Act, which among its conditions requires active practice for at least two years during the four years immediately before you apply.Source: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0460/0460.html · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/Division.asp?DivID=311&Sort=ID · https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/chiropractic-physician/ · https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/chiropractic-physician-renewal/ · https://www.flrules.org/gateway/readFile.asp?sid=0&tid=30554629&type=1&file=64B2-13.007.doc · http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0400-0499/0456/Sections/0456.0145.html · checked 2026-10-04
Corrected. This page told you a new Florida licensee is exempt from continuing education for the first biennium and must attend a board meeting within twelve months. The board requires named courses before the first renewal, and the meeting within the first biennium or twenty-four months of licensure, whichever ends later. Corrections records what this page said before, what is true, and how we found out.

Recorded limit. The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards publishes a record for each board at https://www.fclb.org/. That site returned HTTP 403 to us when checked on 2026-10-04, so its record could not be read.
