published If you practice chiropractic as part of your chiropractic education, MCL 333.16412 requires a limited license. Under MCL 333.16412(2), the limited license shall require that you have successfully completed 2 years of education in a college of arts and sciences and 2 years, 4 semesters, or 6 quarter terms in a chiropractic college approved by the board. The limited license is valid for not more than 6 months and is nonrenewable. Its supervision conditions are in MCL 333.16412(2) and in R 338.12032, the rule for the nonrenewable educational limited license. Part 161 defines supervision, except as otherwise provided in the article, in MCL 333.16109(2). Separately, MCL 333.16171(a) provides that a student in a health profession training program approved by the appropriate board is not required to have a license while performing the duties assigned in the course of training, under the circumstances and subject to the limitations stated. Neither MCL 333.16412, MCL 333.16171 nor R 338.12032 states how the two provisions apply together to a chiropractic student. Part 164 and the 2025 rule amendment name no preceptorship, internship or temporary permit for graduates.
