Barcelona College of Chiropractic

Bilingual program in Barcelona, Spain, accredited by the European Council on Chiropractic Education. The first program documented here where the question “what does this qualification let me do at home?” does not have a clean published answer.

Accrediting body, named explicitly

Programmatic accreditation
Council European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE), whose Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee grants accredited status. The ECCE lists this college among its accredited programs with the following dates:

Accredited since 2017 · last review 2021 · next review 2029. Programs named on the ECCE listing as Titulo Superior en Quiropràctica and Master en Quiropràctica. The ECCE publishes the college's 2021 evaluation team report.

Not the CCE and not the CCEA. Three separate councils have now appeared across three international programs, and no two of them are the same body.

The council's own quality assurance
Council The ECCE's own evaluation report states it was based on the ENQA guidelines for external reviews of quality assurance agencies in the European Higher Education Area — that is, the accrediting council is itself assessed against a European standard for accrediting agencies. Neither the CCE nor the CCEA showed an equivalent on the pages we read.
Accreditation history, as published
Council Candidate status November 2010; evaluation visit February 2017; full accreditation granted 18 March 2017; self-study report for re-accreditation submitted 27 January 2020; a three-day evaluation visit held online 25–27 January 2021 after the on-site visit was postponed for the pandemic.

What this qualification means for practicing in Spain

We could not establish this from any official Spanish source, and it is the most important field on the page.

unverified No Spanish government, regional government or statutory regulator source was located in this pass setting out whether chiropractic is a regulated profession in Spain, whether the title is protected, or what official standing this qualification carries there.

What we can report, because the college publishes it: its own FAQ states that as a result of ECCE accreditation, graduates are eligible to work “in countries where chiropractic is recognized as a regulated profession through an automatic homologation process.” That is the college describing the value of its accreditation in terms of other countries.

What we will not do is fill the gap. Third-party accounts of chiropractic's legal status in Spain exist, disagree with each other, and include sources with declared positions for and against the profession. Publishing any of them as fact would be the worst possible use of this page — this is the single field where a wrong answer could cost someone five years and a career plan.

What to do: ask the college directly what the qualification permits in Spain and put the answer in writing. Then check it independently with the Spanish health ministry or the relevant regional authority. If you intend to practice in Spain, treat this as the question to resolve before you enrol, not after.

National qualifications framework

Does the degree sit inside a national higher-education framework?
unverified Nothing equivalent found to the New Zealand or Australian arrangements. College The college describes an agreement with Universitat Pompeu Fabra under which it resources classrooms on the UPF Barcelona School of Management campus, and notes that UPF's modern languages department collaborated on the college's bilingual language model. That is a facilities and collaboration arrangement as described, not a statement of accreditation or framework registration, and we are not reading it as one.

What it means for licensure in the United States

Empty, and it stays empty until a US board answers it.

unverified This program is accredited by the ECCE, not by the CCE. Three councils — the ECCE, the Australasian and the Canadian — publish a stated relationship through the Councils on Chiropractic Education International. Where the CCE in the United States sits is also published, and it is worse than an absence: the CCEI states it cannot speak to the equivalence of US programs because CCE-USA is no longer a member agency, and the CCEA recognizes CCE-US graduates only where the program was completed before 31 December 2017, and that relationship determines whether a graduate of one system can practice in another.

Ask the licensing board of the specific US state you intend to practice in, in writing, before you enrol. The jurisdictions documented here are listed on the licensure hub.

For any other country: the World Federation of Chiropractic publishes a contact list of member national associations across more than ninety countries. It is an index, not a licensing body. The national association, or the statutory regulator it points you to, is the answer.

Program and entry

Founded
College The college states it has been training chiropractors since 2009. unverified A third-party account gives 2007; we are using the college's own date and noting the discrepancy rather than choosing silently.
Program structure
Council Two qualifications named on the ECCE listing — a Titulo Superior en Quiropràctica and a Master en Quiropràctica. unverified The total length in years and how the two relate, which we did not source from the college's own program pages.
Language of instruction
College Bilingual, which the college describes as unique among chiropractic colleges. Stated language requirement: basic Spanish with high-level English, or the equivalent combination.
Entry requirements
College A certificate verifying completion of secondary education that grants access to higher education in the applicant's own country — the college names Selectividad in Spain, the Baccalauréat in France, A-levels in the UK, the Abitur in Germany, Slutbetyg in Sweden and the Maturità in Italy as examples. An entry standard defined by the applicant's home system rather than by a single national threshold, which is a coherent answer for a college whose intake is mostly international.
Student body
College States that 88 per cent of its students come from more than 24 different countries. unverified Total enrolment, and the date this figure describes.
Published cost
unverified Not sourced in this pass. No tuition figure or fee schedule was captured from the college's own pages, and nothing is estimated, converted or carried over from another program.

Sources and dates. Checked September 2026. Fields tagged Council come from the European Council on Chiropractic Education at cce-europe.org — its accredited-programs listing, which carries the accreditation dates, review dates and program names, and its published 2021 evaluation team report for this college. Fields tagged College come from the Barcelona College of Chiropractic's own site at bcchiropractic.es — its about, study-with-us and FAQ pages. Fields marked unverified were not found in either, and this page deliberately leaves the most consequential one empty. Accounts of chiropractic's legal status in Spain circulate from sources with declared positions both supporting and opposing the profession; none of them is a government source, and none of them is used here.

Nothing on this page is a ranking, a recommendation, or a comparison of quality. No school pays to appear here, to change a field, or to have a peer removed. Accreditation status and national regulation both change; confirm anything decisive with the college, with the ECCE, and with the relevant Spanish authority — and if you intend to practice elsewhere, with the regulator of that jurisdiction before you enrol.
