Each field carries its own source and the date it was checked. A field marked not published means the board's own pages were read and do not address it. Absence in what we checked is not absence at the board. A field marked unverified says what was attempted.

published DPH states these education conditions: at least sixty semester hours of pre-professional college education, and graduation from a chiropractic college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education at the time of graduation. The statute requires the degree of doctor of chiropractic from an accredited college approved by the board with the consent of the Commissioner of Public Health. Before you begin the study of chiropractic, the statute also requires graduation from an approved high school or educational qualifications equivalent to those required for graduation from such a school, and, on and after July 1, 1960, at least two academic years or sixty semester hours of study leading to a baccalaureate degree in a college or university approved by the board with the consent of the Commissioner of Public Health. Section 20-24(3) defines accredited chiropractic colleges as only those institutions that, at the time of your graduation, are accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education or another specialized accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, or, if located outside the United States, are deemed by that council to meet its educational standards.Source: https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/chiropractic-licensure-requirements · https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_372.htm · checked 2026-10-04

Continuing education
published For each licensee applying for license renewal, DPH requires a minimum of forty-eight contact hours of qualifying CE in each CE monitoring period: a period beginning in an odd-numbered year and consisting of two consecutive license renewal periods. One contact hour is a minimum of fifty minutes of CE activity. DPH lists topical areas that CE shall include for registration periods beginning January 2025 to January 2027. It also requires not less than two contact hours on mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, in the first renewal period in which CE is required and not less than once every six years after that. DPH does not approve CE courses or pre-approve specific coursework for individual licensees, and does not maintain a list of CE courses. Section 20-32(b) of the statute requires all licensed chiropractors applying for license renewal to participate in continuing education programs, and, for registration periods beginning on and after October 1, 2012, requires the Commissioner of Public Health, in consultation with the board, to issue biennially a list of not more than five mandatory topics required for the two subsequent registration periods. The Secretary of the State's eRegulations system lists RCSA sections 20-32b-1 to 20-32b-7 under Continuing Education for Chiropractors.Source: https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/chiropractic-continuing-education-information?language=en_US · http://eregulations.ct.gov/eRegsPortal/Browse/RCSA/Title_20Subtitle_20-32bSection_20-32b-2/ · https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_372.htm · https://eregulations.ct.gov/eRegsPortal/Browse/RCSA/Title_20Subtitle_20-32b/ · checked 2026-10-04
Endorsement or reciprocity
published If you are licensed elsewhere, DPH publishes these routes. Waiver of the written examination: DPH may grant it to a currently practicing, competent licensee from a state whose licensure requirements are substantially similar to, or higher than, Connecticut's, and who meets the conditions the waiver page lists. On the third condition the two sources differ: DPH's page names NBCE Part IV, and CGS section 20-27(c)(3) names the practical examination in section 20-28(a). Licensure without written or practical examination: DPH may issue it to a chiropractor who holds a current valid license in good standing issued after examination by another state or territory whose licensing standards, except for examination, are commensurate with Connecticut's, and who has worked continuously as a licensed chiropractor in an academic or clinical setting for a period of not less than five years immediately before applying. Section 20-27(c) also states: No license shall be issued under this section to any applicant against whom professional disciplinary action is pending or who is the subject of an unresolved complaint. DPH's route for applicants licensed in another US state: DPH may issue a license to an individual who holds a current license, permit, certification or registration in at least one other US jurisdiction in the profession applied for, has practiced for not less than four years, meets the good-standing and disciplinary condition DPH states, and pays all fees required of other applicants; DPH says these applicants will not be required to provide transcripts, verification of any training or be required to complete an examination.Source: https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/waiver-of-written-examination · https://portal.ct.gov/DPH/Practitioner-Licensing--Investigations/PLIS/Applicants-Licensed-in-Another-US-State-for-at-Least-4-years · https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_372.htm · checked 2026-10-04
Summary
published In Connecticut, the Department of Public Health licenses chiropractors, and under section 20-25 the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners shall hear and decide matters concerning suspension or revocation of licensure, adjudicate complaints against practitioners and impose sanctions where appropriate. DPH requires at least sixty semester hours of pre-professional college education and graduation from a college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education at the time of graduation. Section 20-28a of the statute addresses work by a student of chiropractic, on the conditions it states. DPH names NBCE Parts I to IV and Physiotherapy. The statute calls for an examination prescribed by DPH with the advice and consent of the board and administered by DPH under the board's supervision, made up of a written and a practical examination, and says the NBCE tests may be accepted as the written examination provided it includes physiotherapy. No jurisprudence exam is named in the board's or DPH's pages, or in Chapter 372. The statute sets out what the practice includes and, in section 20-28(b)(1), what it excludes. For licensees applying for license renewal, CE is a minimum of forty-eight contact hours per monitoring period of two renewal periods, with topical areas DPH lists and a veterans' mental health requirement. If you are licensed elsewhere, DPH publishes a waiver of the written examination, a route without written or practical examination, and a route for applicants licensed in another US state, each on the conditions set out under reciprocity.Source: https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_372.htm · https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/chiropractic-licensure-requirements · https://portal.ct.gov/en/DPH/Public-Health-Hearing-Office/State-Board-of-Chiropractic-Examiners/State-Board-of-Chiropractic-Examiners · https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/chiropractic-licensure · https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/waiver-of-written-examination · https://portal.ct.gov/DPH/Practitioner-Licensing--Investigations/PLIS/Applicants-Licensed-in-Another-US-State-for-at-Least-4-years · https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/plis/practitioner-licensure-general-policies-and-procedures · https://portal.ct.gov/dph/practitioner-licensing--investigations/chiropractor/chiropractic-continuing-education-information?language=en_US · checked 2026-10-04
